We recruited the world’s leading wing and kite designers to push this shape to the next level. Each aspect of the new A-Wing XPS was tirelessly thought out, tested and finely tuned in a wide range of riding conditions.

An innovative cross panel sail (XPS) design provides an outstanding level of connection when riding. This futuristic panel layout greatly reduces sail distortion by improving load distribution and frame rigidity. This gives all the wing sizes a very direct and controlled feel for easy and comfortable flying. Removable carbon fibre battens minimise trailing edge flutter and provide easy canopy tuning for varying wind strengths.

The XPS’s airfoil section combined with our pre-twist tip geometry produces incredible speed with sublime upwind performance. This greatly benefits jump amplitude for freestyle manoeuvres and delivers plenty of hang time and float for smooth landings. This wing is also a wave rider’s dream with little to no luffing or sail flutter and excellent stability, allowing the rider to focus less on the wing and more on shredding the wave.

A newly developed hybrid carbon handle (HCH) design has a rigid carbon interior skeleton and soft padded exterior. This combination offers the best balance of control, comfort and safety.

With the use of the heavier grade (81grm-m2) Challenge code tec 95P fabric, not only does it’s shape hold better whilst overpowered, it also has a super responsive crisp feeling. The life span of this material is also FAR superior. With extensive testing over a West Australian summer the wing utilising this material although weathered, held its original shape from when it was first pulled out of the bag.

The coloured leading edge fabric is the traditional weight (54grm-m2) which allows the wing to breathe a little better in pumping up onto the foil and not feeling too rigid.

*Note to mention the bladder replacements for all of V3 can be counted on less than one hand.

OPTIMIZED PANEL ORIENTATION

Panel orientation and alignment of fibres in the body/canopy and at strut connection stress points combine to retain shape, in the moment under heavy strain and over time reducing stretching and becoming baggy.

FlATTER PROFLE SHAPE

What is lost in pure brut power from the V3 has been replacement with an efficiency in pumping which aids in getting up on the foil in marginal conditions for whatever size wing you’re on. Combined with the crisper feeling material, the time to initiate power as you pump is reduced, with a quicker in and out movement and engagement of power.

Top speed and pointing ability are also improved, so if you have the inclination to give racing a go, SMIK would also be a logical choice. Flatter profiler also reduces the angle of attack further improving upwind ability,of what was already a wing with awesome upwind capabilities.

HANDLING CHARACTERISTICS

Once up on foil, what’s noticeable is the lack of strain through the arms due to the efficiency of the flatter profile. Even in super marginal winds when just up onto the foil, the force through the arms is considerably less.

Being one of the first brands to figure out skin tension, SMIK has taken this further figuring out the combination of canopy tension combined with a looser leech tension. The paradox created is that of “tension that breathes”. This makes the rigid crip sensation, whilst also being super-efficient to pump up onto the foil.

When the wing loads up in strong winds, the drive then moves forward, locking the power to the front without creating back hand pressure. (when the leech is tight). Ultimately it’s a super balanced feeling between the hands throughout it’s wind range. (In fact, increasing it’s wind range.)

Handling when in neutral above the head in tacking and manoeuvres, is in fact exactly that. “Neutral”. The flatter profile makes for a lighter feeling above your head making all transitional moves easier.

HANDLES

Will again be able to be switched out from the rigid to the semi rigid handles. This time however in reverse. They will be supplied with the fully rigid carbon handles for control in their optimal wind range, with the option of after market purchase of the semi rigid handles for when the winds get nuclear, or super gusty. (Which is where rig control is then greatly enhanced)

The Ventis is our latest range extension for light wind wing foiling! With maximum lift and power packed into a sleek, reduced wing tip design, you'll be flying while others are left grounded.

Light wind Wing Foiling had previously required advanced pumping techniques, but the Ventis transforms marginal conditions with active lift that pulls you up and on Foil without the need for excessive pumping. The two side strutsretain the rigid frame and wings profile to allow for a reduction of the wing tips, meaning you are now less prone to catch or drag the wing tip when starting or pumping to get on foil. Sizes of 7m and 8m become manageable with this effective tip reduction even for smaller or less experienced riders. The side struts not only enhance handling, they also allow to keep the profile of the canopy all the way towards the tips. This increases lift and power through the entire surface of the wing while still maintaining good canopy tension, flying stability and depower.

Efficiency and performance are at the forefront of the Ventis design, which is why we've incorporated our lightweight 50g ripstop canopy material with focus on thread orientation in each panel, keeping the large canopy area of the wing as light as possible while delivering direct response and performance.

The longer carbon front handle on the Ventis enables one-handed riding and adds benefits for handling and mastering maneuvers.

The strut profile of the Ventis enhances the ergonomics of the handles, resulting in a more comfortable angle for your hands to be positioned. This allows you to maintain a straighter back arm position, enabling you to enjoy longer, more comfortable sessions on the water.

The A-Wing V2’s stiff airframe reduces sail deformation when highly powered, jumping or pumping the wing for power in light winds. The thick leading edge is not only for structural stability it also defines the nose radius of the aerofoil section which is responsible for generating the power of the wing in flight!
